You have your ideas regarding which website you want, which comes out to be more interesting and engaging to your business.

But before we get that creativity rolling, there are some things I would need from you, think of this as us getting on the same page.

Building a website is not as easy as just putting a few pretty pictures together; it has to be built around something that actually works for you.

Hence, let’s set some ground and get real about what I need:

1. A Clear Understanding of Your Goals and Target Audience:

First things first, what’s the point of this website?

Are you trying to get more customers? Sell your amazing handmade soaps? Share your passion for birdwatching?

Knowing your goal is like setting the GPS — it tells us where we’re going.

And who is your customer? Is it a busy mom, a tech-savvy teen, or someone with experience?

Knowing your audience is like knowing your dinner guests — you want to serve them something they will genuinely enjoy.

Think about:

a. What specific task would you like a visitor to accomplish while on your website?

b. Who is your ideal customer?

c. What problem do you solve for them?

d. What’s your competition doing out there? (Not that we’ll be copying anyone, of course.)

Just express your story to me. The clearer your “why” and “who” are to me, the better I will help with creating the flow and connection of your website.

2. Your Branding and Style Guide (if any):

Do you already have a brand?

Cool! Then please send your branding materials such as your logo, colors, fonts, and anything else that makes you… well, you!

Basically, it’s like showing me your favorite outfit for me to make sure that your website matches your style.

Do you not have a brand? No sweat!

We’ll figure it out together.

Do you want clean and modern? Warm and cozy? Loud and wild?

Share with me a few websites you absolutely adore. It’s literally mood-board-like, so that we can visualize your style.

Think about:

a. Your logo (is it nice?)

b. Your favorite colors

c. Preferred fonts

d. The feel you want to convey with your website

3. Content, Content, Content!

Think of a beautiful house that has no furniture. That’s what a website without content is.

I want to see the words, pictures, or videos that make your website interesting — this is the content.

If you don’t have a polished work done, don’t worry about it. I’m always happy to see drafts.

It’ll really help me plan the layout of the site and how everything fits.

Let me know:

a. What you want on your homepage.

b. Your story on the “About Us” page.

c. What you’re selling or offering.

d. How to get in touch with you.

Content is the heart of your site, so we want to make it great!

4. Clear Communication and Feedback:

It is teamwork. I need your feedback. If you do not like something, say it! Ask me questions! Don’t feel shy.

We’ll be going back and forth to polish things until it is just right. It’s like cooking together: we must taste and adjust along the way.

Basically, I want to make this process as easy and fun as possible for you. By giving me these things, we’ll be well on our way to building a website you’ll love.
